The dark elegance created in Sea Cider’s forest made for a unique gothic and one-of-a-kind experience for Steph and Jared. Gothic overtones mixed with vintage finds showcased a turn of the century elegant mystery novel feel to the reception. This wedding certainly caught our eye!

Steph and Jared had their wedding vision firmly in mind when they met with their planner of choice. Tammy, of Blue Lily Event Planning, recalls how they spoke about wanting their personalities to shine through on their big day. Translation? A goth wedding with a speakeasy feel along with some wonderful vintage. These eclectic choices had Tammy very excited as she went about creating this wonderfully dark elegant look for Steph and Jared .

Tammy: “The first thing we all agreed on was that we had to have Lynda from Fleurtacious be the florist and the designer of Steph’s original veil. This really set the tone right from the beginning.

The ceremony was in Sea Cider’s forest facing the end of an uprooted tree. Lynda created the most amazing floral arrangement for it. She hung glass orbs with skull candles and florals from the tree end. We also handmade paper cones from vintage sheet music and filled them with dark red roses and other flowers for the confetti.

We brainstormed with Steph and Jared for ideas and then built an amazing team of vendors who were excited to do something a little different than the usual!

The decision was made to make details a huge part of the guest experience…

The decision was made to make details a huge part of the dark elegant guest experience This included two room set ups, complete with vintage furniture and tiny details of skulls, old coins, record player decanters and trays, mirrors, prohibition style wall hangings, and even the bride’s very own Ouija board!

The Cake was nothing short of spectacular with hand made black chocolate lace detailing. There was even dry ice to create a foggy mist over the dessert table during the cake cutting. Guest tables were draped with black lace and black mismatched candlesticks, gold trimmed candle holders and lanterns with twisted flowers coming out of them for a darker eerie feel. Each place setting had dark burgundy napkins, gold cutlery and a black feather with each guest’s name hand painted by the bride’s sister. As both the bride and groom are bartenders, homemade bitters were placed at each setting for the wedding favors.

The head table was draped in black lush linens, and large candelabras, rose petals, and littered with various other types of candles and bouquets for a dark Gothic feel. The large throne type chairs were actually provided at the venue for the final touch. We admit to a fondness for the unexpected silver skull sitting among the vintage décor!

Not to be forgotten –  the paper suite. Each invitation was hand wrapped in black lace with custom skull tags and the black envelopes sported a wax seal. This really was the first design choice and everything else flowed from this suite. I would have to say that this is one of favorite weddings I have planned and thank Steph and Jared so much for allowing me to help create their vision! “
