Bengal Spice at The Empress is Inspired by rich textures and reminiscent of British Indian flare. A team of Island creatives came together to produce this luxurious shoot at The Fairmont Empress’ newly renovated Bengal Lounge.
The room’s dark mahogany beams and unique lighting fixtures offered the perfect backdrop for this rich floral-infused feature. Since the floral installations would be the jumping off point for the shoot’s overall look, planner and designer Emma McCormick teamed up with Dragonflight Photography’s Ashley Ferreria, to source pieces that would complement the palette. The result is opulent accent pieces such as the tablescapes gold palm chargers, lush velvet royal blue linen and depression glassware.
The extensive paper suite, designed by Emma Allen (currently collaborating with Jillian Harris), carried throughout the shoot’s vignettes with lush gold foiling and the bright emerald greens pulled from the Bengal Room’s traditional mosaic style tiled fireplace. From the bar cart laced with individually strung white orchids to the tabletop’s metallic lanterns dripping in bright floral, we experience the richness of this palette. Even the bride’s luxurious lip colour and the grooms boutonniere adds to the colour mosaic. Best of all, was the addition of palm fronds and tiger name tags – a wonderful shout out to the room’s Indian origins!
We love the floral design in this shoot. What a display of talent and imagination by Tina at Platinum Floral Designs. Floral literally drapes off lighting installations, the table and everything that isn’t moving! The colour is a statement unto itself. Bold, beautiful and memorable. The bride’s style is a artfully molded into the look with a gown that drapes in the low back and an art deco skirt that shows off the gorgeous bouquet. Last, but not least, the groom’s blue suit and colourful boutonniere is the perfect foil to the entire colourscape.
The real couple, Madeline and Jackson, were a lovely addition to the shoot’s day and the team of vendors was thrilled when they found out Jackson popped the question a few short months later!
Bengal Spice at The Empress is sure to inspire real couples to get creative with their wedding design and look for fun ways to embrace their venue’s history and features to fit their personalities and modern tastes.
