We look at a lot of weddings here but we were so touched at some of the moments recorded at this blended family garden celebration on Vancouver Island. Sascha & Steve were so kind as to share their family story.
How They Met: Sascha was out for a walk with her daughter and along the way she bumped into Steve and his dog. The two had a brief conversation then went their separate ways but a month later the two bumped into each other again. This time Steve got up the courage to ask Sascha to dinner. The two bonded instantly and have been together ever since.
The Proposal: Sascha took Steve on a surprise trip to Miami for his 40th birthday but he had the last word. He surprised her by proposing!
About The Wedding: Two weeks before the wedding, Steve & Sascha had a joint bachelor-ette party in Vegas. As most of the wedding party had not met everyone had a great time making new friendships.
Sascha and Steve have a blended family, so it was important for them to symbolize the official joining of their families in their ceremony. They included vows to their two daughters who were their flower girls. Their eldest daughter was also one of their authorizing witnesses. The couple also included their daughters and parents in their first dance.
After the ceremony, Steve surprised Sascha with a ’64 Impala for their getaway car and added a “just married sign” as the finishing touch. She was even more surprised when he told her he bought it as a wedding gift!
At the reception there was a kids table with colouring and snacks for all the children at the party. Sascha and Steve were very thankful for the beautiful speeches they had from the wedding party, including a spur-of-the-moment speech from their eldest daughter. Sascha and Steve left for their honeymoon to New York and Miami.
