Rustic details galore but heavy on elegance…the perfect description for this wonderful wedding day! Keeping close to their west coast roots, Diana & Matt chose to have their wedding in the Vancouver area, despite calling Toronto their home of four years. They decided that Anvil Island would be the location of their intimate celebration. The Island is a place with deep significance for Matt and his family having spent many weekends and summers here.
The bridal party got ready in Matt’s family’s beautifully decorated cottage. The ceremony took place outdoors overlooking the Howe Sound as kayakers drifted by lazily. The haze caused by the BC wildfires created an otherworldly glow to everything it touched. It also created some outstanding photos!
The tented reception took place on the grounds of the private estate with all the rentals, supplies, and food having been transported via water taxi over the previous week (no small feat for planner Nessa Van Bergen of Bon Vivant Group, a family friend).
Diana & Matt’s vision for their wedding was quintessentially West Coast: “We wanted to remember our wedding day as the best party we’ve ever thrown – with all our friends and family and an emphasis on great west coast food! We had a relaxed, romantic yet fun atmosphere, playing off the surrounding nature and ‘rustic’ elements that we added personally.”
Diana & Matt pulled together their rustic, elegant aesthetic beautifully: from the green arbor overlooking the water down to the desserts and table settings. Let’s not forget that it was also a very dog-friendly event!
